Guest Bathroom Redo: It's Done!

It's been a long time coming.

We started this little bathroom transformation back in late January.  I painted the ceiling a smoky blue and Kevin and I started to hang bead board wallpaper.  After only getting about 1/3 of the paper hung, we stopped.  I think we just lost our steam, you know!?

So the bathroom sat like this for months...

The "in progress" project all those months ago with 2/3 of the bathroom sporting the flat, pale yellow original paint...

And 1/3 of the bathroom sporting the unpainted bead board wallpaper...

Our only motivation to finish up the bathroom and adjoining guest bedroom was that we wanted to tackle some projects in our kitchen, but we didn't want to start a new project with an old one still looming over our heads.

So after a few days of hard work, I'm sooooo very happy to have the bathroom checked off our to-do list!!

It's now fresh, clean, and bright!  I used a semi-gloss white on the bead board which bounces all kinds of light around this small, windowless bathroom!  I'm still on the hunt for a little something to hang above the towel bar that's above the toilet, but other than that, this project is D.O.N.E!

Up next...the guest bedroom.  I have a few things to hang, then I'll post pics!

First Day of K...

...Kindergarten that is!

Olivia requested Mickey Mouse pancakes, bacon, and fruit for breakfast to which I said, "You've got it, sweet girl!"

Olivia was super chatty all morning before we left the house.  I'm sure it was nervous chatter!  Once we got to school and found her class inside the auditorium, she was all smiles, but I could tell she was  a little uneasy.  In spite of the nerves, she did great!  No tears (from Olivia, me or Kevin!)  We all held strong!  Once she found a seat next to another girl in her class, Kevin and I waved goodbye and left.  This stuff isn't easy, y'all!

Olivia's sweet teacher brought her to the car this afternoon and said Olivia had a really great day (other than shedding a few tears right at dismissal time.)  Apparently, things got a little chaotic shifting around bus riders, car riders and daycare riders what with it being the first day and all, and the upheaval was a little too much for little girl.  I'm sure that will work itself out in the next day or two.  But once she was in the car and we were on our way home, she was all smiles as she recounted the day!

Of course, we couldn't let this milestone pass us by without at least a little party!   So while Olivia was off at school, Kevin, Davis and I went to the Dollar Tree to round up some festive decorations!

Olivia had lots of surprises waiting on her from Nana and Grandma and Mommy and Daddy!

Thank you, Nana, for the sweet card and oh so girlie notebook!

And thank you, Grandma, for the books and gift cards!

Here's hoping the rest of Olivia's week is just as smooth as today!

Last Days of Summer & A Teacher's Gift

Where oh where has summer gone?

We've been feverishly trying to mark a few last minute items off our "Summer To Do List."  One such activity was visiting the Children's Museum in Greenville.  Olivia has been asking to go all summer long, so I thought it was high time we make the trip!

As it turned out, we picked the perfect day to go!  We pretty much had the place to ourselves which meant no waiting to see/try out the exhibits!  These two kiddos tackled 3 floors of nothing but fun. Fun.  FUN!!

Since yesterday was such a beautiful day, we decided to go to the Clemson Botanical Gardens to meet Kevin for a picnic lunch!  Y'all know how we love a good picnic!!  After we downed some Wendy's, we ventured off the main paths for a stroll through the woods.

And now, with the first day of school just a few days away, Olivia will be going to meet her teachers tonight at Open House.  We put together these "sweet" little gifts for Olivia to present to her Kindergarten teachers!

These Mason jar cups can be found just about anywhere these days.  I happened to pick these two  up on clearance at the dreaded WalMart.  We picked up these Organic Fruit Chews at TJ Maxx, and they make the perfect "stuffing" for the cups!  The tags are courtesy of Dixie Delights.  Tie it all up with some bakers twine, and it makes for a quick and simple gift!

I'm off to round up these two crazy kiddos.  We've been playing outside just about all day soaking up every last drop of summer va-ca.  Time to get cleaned up and head to open house!

The Beth Moore Bible Study that I've had the pleasure of attending is coming to a close.  **Sigh**

It's been 10 weeks of immeasurable growth for me.  God has gotten ahold of my heart and done some crazy good stuff!

The latter part of the study took me on a stroll through my spiritual heritage with a mission to find where in my life God showed Himself BIG even before He saved me.  I'm so very grateful that Beth led me through this journey because it's not one that I would have ever thought to take on my own.

Looking back on the entirety of my life, I learned something about myself that I didn't know.  I see now that for as long as I can remember, I've had a desire to know God and be a part of His church.  He gave me that tenderness in my heart at a very young age.  Seriously, for as long as I can remember.  And He just continues to turn up the fire in my heart, so I have this unquenchable thirst for more of Him!

This is why I celebrate Him!  Because:

God is who He says He is!
God can do what He says He can do!
I am who God says I am!
I can do all things through Christ!
God's word is alive and active in me!

And I celebrate His church!

Here's why!!!!!!!  (This is my all-time favorite sermon.  EVER!  And I'm on fire about it!!)
