Strawberry Pickin' at Hardy Berry Farms

We wanted to take advantage of this lovely weather we've been having, so a trip to Hardy Berry Farm to pick strawberries was the perfect way to do just that!  Plus, Olivia could eat her body weight in fresh strawberries!

This was Davis's first strawberry picking experience, and he really seemed to enjoy it!

After we picked our 7 pounds of strawberries, we lounged around on the porch and took advantage of the rocking chairs that were calling our names!

This is Bear, the best Golden in the world!  He moseyed right up to us to say hello when we got out of the car.  He's a welcomer at heart.  He gave me a big paw shake and gave Olivia a big lick in the face!  I would bring him home if I could!

It was a fun morning!

Soooooo....what do you do with 7 lbs. of strawberries??  I stuck some whole ones in the freezer for smoothies (Olivia and I are obsessed with fruit smoothies right now!)  I sliced a big bowl full and put sugar on them.  They'll go in the freezer too, and we'll take them out to top our homemade ice cream all summer long!  We bagged up a few and took them to our new next door neighbors.  And I'm still left with a gallon ziplock bag full.  I'll have to come up with something!

The berries are beautiful and they put the grocery store version to shame!  Can't wait for the blueberries and blackberries to be ready!

Olivia's First Dance Recital

What a whirlwind last week was!  With stage rehearsals, dress rehearsals, and two nights of recital I'm glad to be starting a new, less hectic week!

Olivia closed out the 2012-2013 dance year with such poise and grace!  She did such a great job in the recital, and I'm over-the-moon proud of her!  And I know she's pretty proud of herself, too!

She was the star of the show!  And she really gave an awesome performance!  She knew all the steps and positions and wasn't at all affected by the audience.  (She just asked me if she can learn to tap dance next because "there are all colors of tap shoes!")

Congratulations, Olivia!  You're such a smart, sweet, lovely, tender-hearted, big girl ballerina!  Mommy loves you to the moon and back!
